In loving memory of Spc. Aaron Smith,

You shared your life with all of us to gain freedom for us.  We are proud of you.  Now, you are handled in the hands of God with his love.
You will be remembered always.  Thank you for watching over Scott.

Karen Shinkle
Friend to Spc. James Scott Johnson

We are praying daily for an end to all of the violence of the war and against man's inhumanity to man.

In the midst of all of this we do have this hope, Jesus promises "Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you (Heb. 13:5b)." If this is true there must be an awesome reward for those who pay the ultimate sacrifice, something far better than any of us can ever hope or even imagine. Stay the course...We shall overcome! Amen... Knight family, USA

I have lost many friends during my time in Iraq and now my husband is over there waiting to return. This is my heart to all the parents, silblings, spouses, children, family and friends who also gave up someone for the cause. The flag that waves around us all is where their drive and courage fly above us all so next time you see a flag being raised or taken down, do as I and take a minute to salute the memory of not the fallen but those who live in us forever and fly above us all.

I would like to first say that I am sorry for your loss. I am SFC Parker, I worked with your husband when he was stationed at Ft Benning, as an IOBC instructor at A co 2/11 IN. It really hit me by suprise, but I just thought of all the good laughs we had together and smile. He was truly a good man.Just be stong and know he's still with you. I truly respected him for what he stood for, and would have worked for him any day.He was truly a leader for others to follow. He will never be forgottenby me or anyone that has ever worked with him. He was not only about the military, he was a true friend.

Hi my name is Melanie Thornton and my husband Todd is in Iraq. We are currently stationed in Schofield Barracks, HI. We had a wonderful friend there named Sgt.Velton Locklear who deployed at the time my husband left. Velton was killed in action on Sept. 23rd 2006. He was such a wonderful husband, father and friend. Velton loved his family more than life itself, he would have done anything for anyone, we miss him so much and still can't believe he is gone. I want to thank Velton for the sacrifices that he made everyday for our country, he was a wondeful soldier. I'am so thankful that we had the opportunity of knowing and becoming great friends with him and his family. His wife denise and his two beautiful children Velton and Nathan will forever miss him. Please be in peace Velton and know that you are a true hero in the eyes of everyone who knew you, we love you and will miss you forever, goodbye.

My Dear Son Cpl. Bryan S Wilson,
You gave the ultimate sacrifice on December 1, 2004 in Anbar Province Iraq. I miss you more with each passing day.  We buried you, not once, but twice when your wife had your body exhumed this year and moved to a grave that was filled with water.  I am haunted daily by the sound of mud hitting water and the sight of it splashing out as they covered your grave a second time.  There were no soldiers there, no flags of valor, no respect for your sacrifice.  Your body was treated dishonorably. I know that you are not there, you are at peace with God.  This is the only way I can survive this.  I pray for peace in my families lives as we try to get beyond this travisty.  Semper Fi, till we meet again.  Love, Mom

I have always cried when reading a news story about another fallen hero. Each time having thoughts like "That was a real person; someone's son, daughter, brother, sister, father, etc. I am thankful for the sacrifice that each has made; but that thankfulness is mixed with such sorrow. Now that my only son (my only child) has joined the Army, the total reality of all of this has finally hit me in such a hard way. My heartfelt condolences go out to each family member and loved one who has lost someone in Iraq and Afganistan.

Its so hard to say goodbye to the soldiers that fought for our freedom to live. I just want to say thanks to the soldiers as well as thier families. Thanks to the families for being the soldiers support and reason to keep fighting till the end. Thanks for the soldiers bravery to voluntarily sacrifice all they had to fight not only for thier country but also for thier family and the many families that make up this large nation. You soldiers are the reason I have joined to finish what was started. I won't let the soldiers Die in vain. I don't know you personally but I love each and every soldier as well as thier families for that sacrifice. God bless This war and Have your angles of protection around the solder for stregth and around the families for comfort. We know that only through You we will defeat our enemies and The Battle is won. In the name of Jesus I pray- Amen!

Thank you to all the many soldiers who fight for our country everyday. It takes alot of bravery, love, and compassion to defend a whole nation of strangers, whom you will never get to know. Also to the soldiers who have lost their lives in this horrible war, I pray each and every night for  the families. That somehow peace and the love of God you shall pull through and know your loved one will always be remembered. Maybe only by a few people, but by many angels and the youth of our future, for their future lies in this country's hand. Pray daily troops and families, Noone is promised tommorow!!!

You have sacrificed your life so my life may go on.  You have passed, leaving me my precious Freedom.  How do I thank you for all that you've done.  Your courage, and  strength will never be forgotten.
Now, as you look sweetly down upon us, you can see clearly what you left behind.  A country very proud of you, and a family that loves you so.  You are a Hero in many eyes.
You Dear Soldier are not gone, you are just away.  One day we will meet, and I will have the honor to thank you face to face.
For now, I continue to pray, for your loved ones and little ones, and our Troops who fight so hard.  May the Good Lord comfort them with all his Love, his heart is a tender one, that heals the pain and hurt.

May God Bless you and your loved ones.

Two years ago my life ended... no, I did not die or get tragically injured. well sort of..The love of my life was taken from me in a war that should have been long over. Eric Matthew Steffeney, was Killed in Iraq, one minute you are living your life ready to do whats next and then the rude awakening sets in... the what's next, will have to be done alone. You no longer have a husband to discuss things over, so you continue...you have no choice, what was mom and dad now becomes mom and more aggressive mom.and you do it because somewhere up there someone needed my husband more than I did, though I highly doubt that, all I see is that I need the man I fell desperately in love with and my children need their father and no one, not even god needed him that much. The money the military pays to keep the family going, is basically a joke to say, yes it is our fault that your husband was killed, but we're gonna give you a half a million dollars so you can just go buy a new life, we get that your loving husband can't be in your life, but with that kind of money, you should manage quite well.  when you get lonely at night and want to hold him just hold a handful of cash instead, though its cold hard cash it still may keep you warm.
I don't know how to love money the way I love Eric, and won't try.  I have memories and children and nothing more... nothing fixes it and nothing makes it better, you just deal with what life gives you because you still have children that need you so you are forced to stay here and take care of them. I love them...and that is reason one and only that I do stay
I love you Honey, so much! Love, me

 Beverly Light

On May 1, 2006-I lost my son, Cpl. Robbie Glen Light to an IED in Iraq. He was a tank driver for the 2nd Brigade, 1-67 Ar out of the 4th ID from Fort Hood, TX. Words cannot describe the pain I have had in my heart, nor can family or friends help to alter it. It is there, it is constant, and it will always be. Prayer is my only help. It gives me peace with him and my Lord. Long before I matured enough to understand what a soldier stood for-I would watch them march in the local parades. The neatly pressed uniforms on the older POW-MIAs and the other vets in wheelchairs being pushed down the street and think only about their age and pray none of them would falter under the extreme heat and length of the parade. And wonder why in the world someone their ages would march in such extreme conditions. Well, now I know why. It is because these men are very proud of what they did when they were in service to their country so we can all be free! And it is to honor the ones that didn't make it home and their families, their brothers in arms will always live on in their minds and also in ours whom have lost loved ones to the wars on foreign soil. So next time you see the older men marching in the parades-salute them-because they were once young men serving their country just as some of our families are now! And they are honoring all who served before them and what they represented. God bless all the servicemembers in the states and abroad and their families. And when you lay down your heads tonight say a prayer for the ones who have died to make it possible for us to have a safe place to sleep, without having to hear bombs and gunfire going off all around us like the families in Iraq have to listen to every night. And for our children to have the rights of freedom to pursue their dreams as they see fit. Lord, be with us all!   Fly on my angel, Robbie! I know you danced!

On Sept.23,2006 Cpl. Windell J. Simmons, age 20, died in Taji,Iraq. I only met Cpl. Simmons when he graduated from boot camp at Fort Leonardwood in
Missouri. My daughter's boyfriend was a friend of Cpl. Simmons. He spent the day with us after graduation. Everyone enjoyed being around him.He seem to be a leader and encourager and a wonderful story teller. So the little time we spent with him I could see a fine young man. I know he will be missed by many but, he will be in our hearts for always. If his parents or family happen to read this I want you to know he made an impact in my life and I am blessed to have known him for just a day.

My nephew, PFC. Perry Matthew Booth came home for R&R on November 4th, 2006. He was found dead, six days later, on Veteran's Day, unknown causes. He was my hero. He fought many battles in his life but the ultimate was joining the Army of One during wartime. It made him a greater person. Thank you, ARMY, for making him whole before God came to get him.

Rest In Peace to my loving cousin:
Sgt. 1st Class Tung M. Nguyen,
2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.

I am honored to have such a heroic cousin.  He served in the military for 20 years.  He was was a green beret and earned numerous awards. He was such a great, and caring son.  He never forgot about his family and relatives and would always try to visit as much as he could even if it was just for an hour.   He was also the most patient person ever.  He had so much patience it was unbelievable. He is my hero. To me,  he was like a strong wall that could never crumble or fall.  I still can't believe the world has lost such a wonderful person.  But He died doing what he loved, and I believe that he will be a great angel as he was a person.  I Love you soo much and I will never forget you.. You may be gone.. but you will never be forgotten.. I Thank you and thank eveery soldier out there for what they have done, and is doing for this country. <3

We all take things for granted over here in the United States. Everyday we walk around doing as we please. We forget that we wouldn't have this peace of mind if it wasn't for the brave men and women who fight and give thier lives for us to have this privilege. Although I have never met many of the people serving for us I do know people fighting in Iraq right now. I pray everyday for all of our soldiers. Our country is truly blessed to have those of you with hearts big enough to serve and protect people you have never met. I pray for all families with friends and loved ones in the war right now. Remember good things come to those who wait.

This goes out to Adam Spohn..rest in peace. you made my sister and raynee so happy. I can't believe that you are gone..you should be at home with your wife and daughter not in heaven with god. But I know that god said that it was your time and you had to go and know you didn't want too. You are hero to me.
