I lost my brother, Spc. Jeffrey S. Henthorn, on the 8th of February 2005.  He was stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas in 2003 when he took his military career from weekends with The Army National Guard (that he loved!!!) to being a full-time U.S. Army Soldier. He leaves us with 2 loving boys.  Chance, 6 and Brenden,4.  The hard part is getting up everyday knowing that he's never coming home and going to bed everynight knowing that he's never coming home.

Taylor and I worked together.  I remember the joy he brought to all of the co-workers.  He always had a smile on his face and was a bright young man, who was looking foward to a wonderful future.  He came into work one last time before leaving for Iraq.  My last words to him were "be careful and come home safe".  Taylor died May 9, 2005, while serving for the Marines.  He died doing what he loved...helping others.  My memories of you will be cherished forever.  My prayers go out to your family and friends all around the world.  Thank you so much for the sacrifice you gave to our country.  Miss you!

That's the day the knock came to my door. The night before, my youngest son PFC Robert Allen Guy was killed in Iraq.

On January 26, 2005, on of my close friends was killed when the C-53E helicopter he was flying in crashed in a sandstorm near Rhutbah, Iraq...his name is Jon Etterling and he was a true hero to me and everyone from our community...Jon was a hero not only in action but in real life...his life and the memories I have of him will be so treasured and I just want to send my condolences out to anyone who has lost a friend or family member...there is a site called herobracelets.org that makes customized memorial bracelets of fallen soldiers for 12 dollars and all of the money is donated to the Intrepid Fallen Soldiers Fund...the bracelets are beautiful and a great way to honor

Since the start of the war, I have been emotional every time I hear of another fallen soldier. Yesterday, I received a phone call from my mom that a young man that I grew up with had lost his life in Irag. My heart sank and immediatly went out to his mom and sister. I feel so helpless and angry at the same time. I'm very frustrated with our government because it feels as though our fallen soldiers are losing their lives, not for America's freedom, but for the freedom of the Iragi people. Enough is enough! As I look over websites and lists of our fallen heros, I just keep thinking that these lists are far too long.  Lists of young men and women who are giving the altimate sacrifice for the freedoms we all hold so dear.  TJ was a good friend of my brother who aslo was on the vehicle when enemy fire took a great man from his family and friends and injured two others.  My brother was one of the injured and TJ was taken from us.  Although I felt relief to find out our soldier was going to be okay, I couldn't help but feel a great sorrow for the family of TJ and all of his brothers in Iraq.  TJ was fun and outgoing individual who could always make people laugh.  Although I only saw him a few times while visiting my brother at Ft. Stewart, I know he is a great loss to many.  He and my brother were pretty good friends and spent a lot of time together.  I would talk to my brother online and see TJ in the back ground on the web cam.  My thoughts and prayers go out to TJ's family.  I'm t
ruly sorry for your great loss.  TJ is a true hero and his sacrifice is the greatest any man can give.  I know that he is smiling down on us from heaven and watching over his fellow brothers and for that I am thankful.  To TJ's family: God be with you in your time of sorrow and always. We lost a hero on July 10, 2005.  His name was Joseph P. Goodrich, from Pittsburgh, PA.  He was my best friends husband, and I have many memories to carry me through.  He was such a great person, my husband and I choose him to be our daughters godfather.  We miss him so much, and will always remember him.  He believed in what he was doing and would not leave his men behind.  It was a great honor to be his friend.

I know many guys that have served in Iraq.  One of the saddest moments of my life is when I greeted my friends that came back, just to learn that they had lost four friends in Iraq.  So to those four and to all of the ones killed, know that you are heros in all ways.  You have changed the lifes of so many and we are grateful for you.  Prayers go out to all of those friends, family members and comrades who have been left standing without the ones standing next to them.  God Bless you all.
