Speech by Congressman Ronnie Shows to the Members of the House of
Representatives.
I want to share with my colleagues the work of Cindy Taylor-Dawson. She has created a web site called “I Will Soar Again,” inspired by the events of September 11th and dedicated to the heroes who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom. “I Will Soar Again” has been viewed by countless people around the world, and has enabled them to express their thanks to America’s heroes.
Last year “I Will Soar Again” featured “Trees for the Troops 2001,” where people could post messages on a virtual Christmas Tree” that could be viewed by our troops, no matter where they were stationed.
I commend this site to you, Mr. Speaker, and our colleagues. It can be found at www.iwillsoaragain.com. By scrolling down to the bottom, one can find “Trees for the Troops 2001” and read the heartfelt greetings submitted by thousands of grateful people.
“I Will Soar Again” is one person’s way of saying God Bless America. I commend this site to our colleagues, staffs, families, and constituents, so they can contribute to the next Christmas Tree.

Chicago Memorial Day Parade 2005
In his efforts to lobby congress for a National Memorial to honor our fallen heroes of the War on Terrorism, Mitch Atkinson marches alongside veterans of the Middle Eastern conflict in Chicago's Memorial Day Parade.
Below the eagle:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and loved ones of those that gave their lives to fight for our country. May God give you peace in your heart and strength to carry on.
They proudly served their country. Now, they proudly serve with angel's wings.

In the final weeks of September 2001, Taylor-Dawson, with faith and confidence — but without a clue as to what she was getting into — sat down at her computer, rolled up her sleeves and created the illustrated poem I Will Soar Again. The work, once posted on the Internet Web site Debsfunpages, generated more than 260,000 forwards, drew thousands of personal e-mail responses and begat a site of the author's own. As a beckoning platform for grassroots expressions of patriotism and condolences during the months of the Great Frustration, the homemade site has received more than 46,000 "hits." SoarAgain, says Taylor-Dawson, "is not about supporting war. It's about our commitment to the people out there doing their jobs." "I'm a civilian. I'm not military," she says. "I think that's what makes this work." To win the war on terrorism, she believes, "we all have to be a part of it." To

Greetings to Troops Overseas While some soldiers will be home for the holidays, thousands of others will be protecting our country's interest overseas. They'll have little or no contact at all with their families and friends back home. But one Mississippi woman has made it her mission to let our troops know just how much they are appreciated. You might say Cindy Taylor-Dawson has a passion for the military. She says, "I tried to enlist a few years ago, but they told me I was too old." Each heart represents a greeting sent through Cindy's web site to a soldier overseas. "Last year, they came in over two hundred a night." Some 3600 greetings came in over roughly a four week span. To
